The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is the senior appointed official of the Municipal District of Digby providing organizational leadership to municipal staff.
The position is responsible to Council for administration and coordination of the delivery of services to the municipality’s residents and businesses in a manner that will ensure the effective utilization of the human, financial and physical resources of the municipality.
The CAO oversees the execution of programs and initiatives approved and established by Council policies and relevant legislation. The CAO is the principal advisor to Council in the development of public policy and is responsible for ensuring that Council is provided with all relevant information necessary to make informed decisions. The CAO’s work is supported by the senior management team, who meet regularly over a variety of projects benefitting the Municipality.
Jeff Sunderland is CAO for the Municipality of Digby, He has served in this role since January 2020.
